Steel

Kharafi Steel has been the literal and figurative backbone of the company and its success. Beginning with 37 steel barges in 1975, Khalid Ali Al Kharafi & Bros Co. has ushered in much of Kuwait’s construction through constructing much of its steel structures, for use in commercial, institutional, civil, and defense infrastructure.

Kharafi Steel today has several sub-divisions: structural steel, space frames, galvanization, steel doors, and other miscellaneous steel works.

What differentiates Kharafi Steel is its ability to provide comprehensive services including: in-house engineering, fabrication, and installation. Additionally, the high specialization of the company’s steel structure roofing systems is unique to the market – given the degree to which accuracy and precision are required – especially when dealing with ETFE roofs that are trending worldwide throughout malls and stadiums.

In Kuwait, steel work of all kinds including: structural steel, space frames, steel tanks, stainless steel, and steel doors have become synonymous with Khalid Ali Al Kharafi & Bros Co.
The company portfolio was established upon the construction of turnkey industrial plants, and expanded to include public and private projects including water reservoirs, refineries, oil piers, power and petrol stations, airports, stadiums, skyscrapers, mega malls, hospitals, warehouses, and so forth.

In addition to its central industrial activities in construction, EPC contracting, and steel manufacturing, the Khalid Al Kharafi and Brothers’ vision extends to a broader scope of business endeavors. This division identifies opportunities and investments in unique projects and diverse sectors including real estate development, power, education, water management, solid waste management, and renewable energy.

Kharafi Ventures works closely with the Kuwait Authority of Private Projects (KAPP) on its goal to encourage and enhance the participation of the private sector in developing the country’s infrastructure.

Pixels

This exciting division of Khalid Ali Al Kharafi & Bros Co. was established to help keep clients’ structures dynamic and engaging. High-end screens for displaying media are customized based on clients’ budget and needs, imported from our partners and installed on buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure so that messages can be heard loud and clear. The technologies used are highly immersive and on-trend, so as to fully engage viewers and get higher return on investment.

Kharafi Pixels’ partners are experts in post-production work and are capable of transforming HD videos into eye-catching 3D videos that present a stunning augmented reality that shimmers and pops.

Transparent LED screens are provided by Nexnovo, a company partner based in Shenzhen, China. These unique state-of-the-art screens can be used to place ads on flagpoles, handrails, sliding doors, mirrors, and any surface that appeals to clients and their customers.

Scaffolding & Formwork

The company has been serving the construction industry in Kuwait with sizeable formwork and solid scaffolding systems since 1990. Formworks and scaffolds are installed based on the ACROW system, and are the most sturdy and adaptable structures on the market. A full range of shelving and racking systems are available to fulfill the needs of any storage requirements. Notable partnerships:

  • In 2008, the company entered a joint venture (JV) with the Metallurgical Company of China (MCC) and accomplished a variety of mega projects including extensive road construction.
  • In 2021, Khalid Ali Al Kharafi & Bros Co. entered partnership with Lamor, Finland.

Environmental

Khalid Ali Al Kharafi & Bros Co. is dedicated to sustaining future generations and the health of our planet. The Kharafi Environmental division aims to execute projects that turn waste into assets and has invested in a highly qualified team and partners in order to do so.

One of the first undertakings of the Kharafi Environmental division is the cleansing of Kuwait’s soil, which was deeply polluted during the invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the ensuing oil-well fires. The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) along with the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and Kuwait National Focal Point (KNFP) have initiated the joint venture, which is one of the biggest soil remediation projects in the world, and split into five zones. Khalid Ali Al Kharafi and Brothers Company is the only company to have been awarded two of the five zones in this JV.

This long-term project of soil remediation will be followed with wastewater treatment initiatives; the company is deeply committed to developing extensive experience and expertise in environmental work and becoming a key player in the bioremediation of the region.
